Section Chief Engineering & Construction Surveys Section

Examples of Duties

Under direction of the Commissioner of Engineering and Construction, is responsible for coordinating and assigning workloads to support staff including, but not limited to, the Bureau of Sidewalks, Plats and Surveys, Design, Construction, and Bridges and Docks. Supervises work performed by staff and makes recommendations for improving efficiency and production within the Division. Identifies problems/provides troubleshooting assistance and assists with finding solutions and resources to resolve problems in a timely manner. Performs other job-related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

A High School Diploma or GED is required. A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Public Works Administration, or a closely related field from an accredited four year college or university is required. Eight years of full time paid experience in bridge and road construction is required. Must have a valid State of Ohio Professional Engineer's License. A valid State of Ohio Driver's License is required. SURVEYS SECTION - A Bachelor's Degree in Surveying, Civil Engineeering, or other related field is required. Must be licensed as a Surveyor by the State of Ohio. Eight years of full time paid Surveying experience with at least three years of supervising others is required (Can be both as a Surveyor Intern as well as Surveyor) A valid State of Ohio Driver's License is required. Must have GIS experience, Cuyahoga County GIS experience is preferred. Experience in researching records, property deeds, recorded plates, and other related documents is required. Must have a strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, and Adobe Reader. Must be proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Carlson Survey Software.
